Robin Thede is an accomplished writer, actress, sketch and improvisational comedian. She is currently a writer/performer on The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore (Comedy Central), where she served also as Head Writer for the first season and a half. Prior, she was the Head Writer on The Queen Latifah Show, and wrote for Chris Rock at the 2014 BET Awards. Robin wrote on the first two seasons of Real Husbands of Hollywood (BET) and acted in recurring roles on Second Generation Wayans on BET (2013) and Goodwin Games on FOX (2013). She can also be seen as a guest star on Comedy Central’s sketch comedy show Key and Peele. She appeared in the Sundance feature Afternoon Delight (2013) and in the hit comedy A Haunted House (Open Road, 2013).

Other writing credits include writing comedy pieces for BET Honors (2013 and 2014), UNCF: An Evening of Stars, as well as the 2012 BET Hip Hop Awards and the 2012 BET Awards, in which she wrote for Mike Epps and Samuel L. Jackson, respectively.

Robin has worked on several projects as both a writer and performer, including the sketch comedy TV series In The Flow With Affion Crockett (FOX), executive produced by Jamie Foxx, in the Mike Epps’ sketch comedy series Funny Bidness, and the TV comedy series Clunkers (starring Carl Payne, David Faustino and Sherman Hemsley).

Other television appearances include roles on Hot In Cleveland (TV Land), Chocolate News (Comedy Central) and All of Us (UPN). She also received critical acclaim for her emotionally gripping role on the BET original web series Buppies.

Robin’s writing credits also include the NAACP Image Awards (2011), the BET Awards (2007- 2012), the BET Hip Hop Awards (2010-2012) and more. Additionally, Robin has created several hugely successful viral videos, including Every Little Step with Wayne Brady, Bobby Brown and Mike Tyson (Funny or Die.com) and For (Stuffed) Colored Girls (Funny or Die.com). She wrote and starred in the viral hit Sh*t Black Guys Say and can also be seen with Elite Delta Force 3 in The Real Housewives of Civil Rights (Funny or Die.com).

Robin’s comedy work extends from years of professional live sketch comedy (Second City Chicago and LA, Improv Olympic, etc.) to comedic commentary on shows like The Daily Habit (Fuel TV) and What I Hate About Me (Style Network). Other notable work includes co-hosting on The Voice of Reason on Jamie Foxx’s Foxxhole Sirius/XM radio channel and working as a regular entertainment correspondent on E! News.

Robin’s countless characters and boundless energy make her a comedic force to be reckoned with, but she has also been hailed for dramatic roles as well, including playing “Sarah” in the NAACP Theater Award-Winning Girls of Summer and winning the Best Actress Performance Prize in the Brussels International Film Festival for her work in the short film Plant One On Me. Robin has a degree in Broadcast Journalism and African-American Studies from Northwestern University.
