Robert “Bob” Shrum is the Director of USC Dornslife Center for the Political Future and Carmen H. and Louise Warschaw chair in Practical Politics. He is the former political strategies and consultant who was described as “the most sought after consultant in the Democratic Party,” by The Atlantic Monthly. Mr Shrum served as speechwriter to New York Mayor John V. Lindsay, speechwriter to Senator George McGovern’s 1972 Presidential campaign and speechwriter and press secretary to Senator Edward M. Kennedy. He served as senior advisor to the Gore-Lieberman campaign in 2000 and to the Kerry-Edwards campaign in 2004. Other former clients include Barbara Mikulski, Joe Biden, and John Glenn in their Senate campaigns, Bob Casey in his run for Governor of Pennsylvania, and Tom Bradley’s run for Mayor of Los Angeles. Simon and Schuster published his political memoir, No Excuses: Concessions of a Serial Campaigner in 2007.
